Uniform is an important part of who we are, being smartly dressed and taking pride in our uniform reflects and supports our values and ethos.
Our approach to uniform ensures we meet the requirements of the Government Cost of School Uniform Statutory Guidance. The key points of this are;
- Keeping branded items (items with the school logo) to a minimum
- Offering more than one supplier
- Publishing information regarding our uniform on our website
- Making second hand uniform available, something we endorse and strongly encourage to reduce waste and our carbon footprint.

Alternatively, Richard Taylor School like to encourage parents and guardians to purchase Second Hand Uniform from our Friends of RTS team. You can access these items in the following ways:
- Our termly second hand uniform sales
- Contacting the school office
- Emailing FoRTS directly on richardtaylorfriends@gmail.com
Please ensure all uniform items are all marked with your child’s name. This will make it easier to trace if they go astray. Unmarked property can only be kept until the end of term.
Jewellery
It is not appropriate for children to wear jewellery in school. (Children with pierced ears must only wear stud or sleeper rings). For health and safety reasons all ear-rings must be removed or covered for P.E. and games.
Watches may be worn, however we politely request that no smart watches are worn in school.
Any jewellery brought into school is done so at the risk of the child and family.
Coats
Children will play outside in light rain and in cold temperatures. Children should have warm waterproof coat. School does not have the staffing capacity to keep children in side school during outdoor play if they do not have a coat.
